How to Make Bio Gas Plant By Pakistan Science Club
The Pakistan Science Club offers a comprehensive guide on constructing a DIY biogas plant, enabling individuals to produce renewable energy from organic waste. This project not only provides a sustainable energy source but also serves as an educational tool to understand anaerobic digestion.
Materials Needed:
- 20-liter plastic bottle (serves as the digester)
- Organic waste (such as kitchen scraps or animal manure)
- Water
- Rubber tubing
- Sealant
- Old tire tube (acts as a gas storage tank)
Steps to Construct the Biogas Plant:
Prepare the Digester:
- Clean the 20-liter plastic bottle thoroughly.
- Drill a hole in the bottle cap to insert the rubber tubing, ensuring an airtight fit.
Mix the Feedstock:
- Combine organic waste with water in a 1:1 ratio to create a slurry.
- Pour the slurry into the plastic bottle, filling it about two-thirds full to leave space for gas accumulation.
Seal the System:
- Secure the bottle cap with the tubing attached.
- Ensure all connections are airtight using sealant to prevent gas leaks.
Gas Collection:
- Connect the free end of the rubber tubing to the old tire tube, which will serve as the gas storage reservoir.
- As the organic material decomposes anaerobically, biogas will be produced and collected in the tire tube.
Usage:
- Once sufficient gas has accumulated, it can be utilized for cooking or lighting by connecting the tire tube to a suitable burner or lamp.
