DIY Club Project – 5V USB Wooden Lamp
Introduction
A 5V USB wooden lamp is a simple, stylish, and energy-efficient lighting project. Using wood and a USB-powered LED, you can make a unique lamp for your desk or room. This DIY Club project is perfect for beginners and electronics enthusiasts.
Materials Required
Wooden block or plank (size depends on design)
USB LED strip or USB LED bulb (5V)
USB cable
Drill with small bit
Sandpaper (80–220 grit)
Wood glue (optional)
Paint or varnish (optional)
Step 1: Design the Lamp
Decide the shape of your lamp: cube, rectangle, or custom shape. Mark the wooden block for drilling the cable hole and LED placement.
Step 2: Drill Holes
Drill a hole through the wooden block for the USB cable
If using LED strips, carve a small groove on the surface to fit the LED
Step 3: Smooth the Wood
Sand all surfaces of the wooden block with progressively finer sandpaper
This removes rough edges and prepares it for painting or varnishing
Step 4: Install the LED
Place the USB LED in the groove or hole
Connect the USB cable to the LED
Test the lamp by plugging it into a 5V USB power source
Step 5: Finish the Lamp
Optionally, apply varnish or paint to enhance the look of the wood
Let it dry completely before use
Tips for a Better Wooden USB Lamp
Use a hardwood block for stability and durability
Keep the USB cable accessible for easy plug-in
You can add diffuser material (like frosted plastic) for soft lighting
Final Result
Your 5V USB wooden lamp is ready! It’s eco-friendly, low-voltage, and makes a great decorative piece while showcasing your DIY skills.
