DIY Mini Diesel Generator (Small Engine Power Setup)

DIY Mini Diesel Generator (Small Engine Power Setup)

Important Note (Safety First)

A diesel generator involves fuel + engine + electricity.
Work outdoors, avoid heat near fuel, and do not overload.
If you are a beginner, ask an adult or technician to help.

Materials Needed

  • Small Diesel Engine (1–2 HP, like water pump engine)

  • Generator Dynamo / Alternator (12V or 220V depending on need)

  • Pulley + Belt (to connect engine to alternator)

  • Fuel Tank

  • Switch + Output socket

  • Wooden or metal base frame

Connection Concept

Engine rotation → Turns Pulley Belt → Spins Generator → Produces Electricity.

No electronics required if using belt-drive alternator.

How to Build

  1. Base Setup:
Fix engine and generator on a wood/metal board aligned straight.

  2. Pulley & Belt:
Attach pulleys on engine & generator shafts.
Fit and tighten the belt so it doesn't slip.

  3. Fuel & Start:
Fill small fuel tank and start engine using pull-start.

  4. Output:
Connect generator output to battery terminals (12V use)
Or to socket if using 220V alternator.

Usage

  • Charge battery

  • Run LED bulbs

  • Power small DC tools
    (Do not run heavy appliances.)
